Requisits for Presentation

The IV CONGRESS of RIBIE will follow strict rules for the acceptance of papers of any nature. Thus, the following rules must be carefully followed to avoid that a paper is rejected beforehand. These rules apply equally to Communications, Posters, Demonstrations, Panels and Workshops.

General Style of Text

The papers can be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English. In the latter, the participant must make individual arrangements for his/her presentation, because there will be simultaneous translation only during plenary sessions. It is preferred that the papers are presented in Letter Size; namely, 8.5x11inches or 21.59x27.94cm.; margins, 1.5 inches or 3.81cm of each side (top-bottom, left-right). Optionally, the papers of some countries where Letter Size is not common can be presented in A4 size, making the correspondent adaptation of margins: 4.71cm top and bottom, and 3.78cm left and right. The font type must be Times 11, or equivalent (i.e.: Dutch 11) and single spaced. The text must be full justified. It is required that the papers are written in impersonal style, and following standard rules of grammar and orthography. The paragraphs have no separation lines; only a tab indent in the first line. The words in capitals follow punctuation rules, as the others. Do not number the pages, because all accepted papers will be published in one volume of proceedings.

First Page

There must be the following initial lines from the top of the Page: a) identification of the type of paper, centered (i.e.: Communication, Poster, Demonstration, Workshop or Panel); b) general title of the paper, two lines maximum, centered, in bold capitals; c) separated by a line, name or names of the authors, centered in bold lowercase; d) normal case, the E-mail address or fax number (only one) that can be used for inquiries about the document. Only the communications must include an untitled abstract, separated of the text by two lines before and two lines after; its extension of it is up to 10 lines.

Titles and Subtitles

Center and use bold letter, with capitals and lowercase as needed, in the main section titles. They are separated by one blank line from the text, up and down. The subtitles are in bold, left-justified and separated only by a blank line up; they can be numbered, if convenient - i.e.: 1), 2).. a), b)...

Tables, Figures and Quotes

They must be included in the text, not grouped at the end, centered and without text around them. It is important to prevent that page cuts do not fall into them. The tables have a separation line above, then the title centered, with the corresponding number; i.e.: Table 1:.., Table 2:.. The figures have the title below and centered, and also with the specific number; i.e.: Figure 1:.., Figure 2:.., etc. Short quotes go between quotation marks and following continuity of paragraphs; the long ones (more than 3 lines) go separated by one line up and other down; they must have a smaller font size; i.e.: 10 points.

References

Bibliographical references go at the end. The title would be "REFERENCES" in bold capitals and a left justified. In the body of references, it is necessary to follow a consistent style; for instance, that of the American Psychological Association or the University of Chicago Press. References will be ordered alphabetically by author, and with no blank lines in between. They will have a French or hanging indentation (first line normal, following lines indented to the right). Only those authors that have been specifically mentioned in the text will be included in the list.

Copies

The proponent of a paper of any type must send an original and three printed copies of the document, which will be reviewed by three evaluators. Only the original will have the names and addresses in legible form; in the copies, these data will be scratched or substituted by unintelligible characters, such as: xxxxxxxxxxx. So, the reviews will be anonymous. In addition to this, a copy of the paper must be included in a diskette of 3 1/4 inch, which will be used for transcription if the paper becomes accepted. This diskette must be formatted in MS-DOS, Windows or Macintosh and the accepted word processor is Microsoft Word, in version 4.0 or higher. If you use a different processor, please save the document in Word format.

ID Page

On behalf of the session coordinators, it is required a single page with the basic data of the author(s). Namely: name, title, higher education degrees, institution(s) where the person(s) work and areas of research and scholarity.

Criteria for Evaluation

All the papers, except those of invited speakers, will be submitted to arbitration by three independent reviewers. The following criteria will be applied: Relevance to one or more topics of the Congress; Conformity to presentation requirements stated above; Clarity of content; Organization and Congruence of ideas; Originality from the point of view of technological innovation in Education; General Quality of the paper in Technical, Scientific and Methodological aspects; and Contribution to knowledge in the field. When the papers are case studies or descriptions of experiences, preference will be given to those which include theoretical framework, evaluation results and recommendations for future applications.

Aceptance and Publication of Papers

The papers can be sent to the President of the Program Committee beginning February 1st 1997 until October 30 1997. Information about acceptance of the papers will be sent before December 15 of 1997, according to the date of reception. In the Congress Proceedings, which will be delivered to all registered participants, only the accepted papers of all categories will be published. Nevertheless, in order to be included in the Proceedings, the author(s) must formalize registration before May 1998. If anybody with an accepted paper is registered after this date, the production of copies will be his/her own responsibility.
